Array unveils detailed selumetinib NSCLC data in ASCO abstracts
Array BioPharma Inc. (NASDAQ:ARRY) announced the availability of abstracts slated for presentation at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting, including one with detailed data from a Phase II trial of selumetinib ( AZD6244) in second-line non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In 87 patients with mutant K-Ras (KRAS) locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC, selumetinib plus docetaxel led to an overall survival (OS) of 9.4 months compared to 5.2 months with docetaxel alone (HR=0.80, p=0.2069). Last year, Array reported top-line results showing that the small molecule MEK inhibitor missed the primary endpoint of OS.
Data on secondary endpoints showed the selumetinib regimen significantly prolonged progression-free survival over docetaxel alone (5.3 vs. 2.1 months, p=0.0138), and improved the response rate (37% vs. 0%, p<0.0001). Array previously reported that the secondary endpoints had been met. Selumetinib is partnered with AstraZeneca plc (LSE:AZN; NYSE:AZN). ...
