Stirring the RNAi soup

Most companies working on RNA interference (RNAi) use the introduction of small interfering RNA (siRNA) molecules into cells to knock out the expression of specific genes. The method is widely used for research, where a license is easy to obtain. In the therapeutic field, however, the situation is complex. Since only a few patents have been granted so far for therapeutic applications, both companies and investors are still trying to sort out the IP situation.
