Rethinking dopamine strategies in Parkinson's

Not only can one gene produce more than one protein, but one protein can have multiple functions even within the same tissue type. One such discovery published in Science suggests that dopamine transporter blockers, which are used to treat indications such as depression, also may prove useful in treating Parkinson's disease (PD).
