Noteworthy Cadus finds mates for orphan receptors

Cadus Pharmaceutical Corp. has broadened its yeast assay technology to solve one of the problems of genomics: finding ligands for orphan receptors of unknown function.

The Tarrytown, N.Y., company's basic assay, originally developed to work with G protein-coupled receptors, replaces yeast G proteins and receptors with their human counterparts to screen for compounds that interact with the receptors.
