Bone loss is Accleron's gain

Rather than facing the prospect of a long and expensive road to approval in osteoporosis, Acceleron Pharma Inc. decided to position its ACE-011 as a treatment for cancer-related bone diseases. The company's new focus set the stage for last week's partnership with Celgene Corp., which believes the compound will complement its Revlimid lenalidomide and Thalomid thalidomide multiple myeloma franchise.
