Cruel paradox

In BioCentury's on-going search for good biotech business models, we're reminded that it's possible to create a viable business that isn't really an interesting investment.

The hard fact is that the bulk of companies in most sectors of the economy provide a product or service, make their payrolls and at the end of the day have mediocre profits to show for their efforts. By definition, most companies can't come close to earning the outstanding profits that would merit investor enthusiasm and cash.
