All dressed up and nowhere to go
Calgene Inc.'s BXN cottonseed last week received non-regulated status from the USDA, which means that the cottons, which are resistant to the herbicide bromoxynil, can be grown and shipped anywhere in the U.S. without special permits or approvals. But it may be some time before farmers will be able to use the product to free their crops from weeds, because the EPA has yet to approve the post-emergent herbicide for use on cotton...
