Healy opines on conflict-of-interest

Outgoing NIH Director Bernadine Healy has suggested that NIH grantees could be forced to apply the NIH's upcoming conflict-of-interest rules across the board.

In answering questions before a House Small Business subcommittee last week, Healy suggested that NIH might consider a requirement that grantee institutions apply the conflict-of-interest rules to all of their staff and to all activities. NIH currently mandates that its grant recipients apply NIH standards for equal opportunity employment, safety, and animal care on a global basis, not just for NIH-related activities. ...
