KaloBios Pharmaceuticals Inc. believes the mechanism of its KB001 antibody fragment can prevent the harmful effects of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection and progression to pneumonia while avoiding the side effects and resistance associated with antibiotics. The company was able to leverage the approach into a global deal with Sanofi Pasteur S.A. that still gives the biotech more upside from rights for two indications.
