Why biopharma companies signed declaration on antibiotic-resistant drug development

Drug companies are signaling that they are ready to work with national governments and international governmental organizations to create new business models to stimulate the development of antibiotics to treat resistant pathogens.

Eighty-five pharmaceutical, biotech and diagnostic companies and nine trade associations from 18 countries signed a declaration released last week that called for governments to work with them to create "alternative market structures that provide more dependable and sustainable market models for antibiotics, and to commit the funds needed to implement them." ...
