The Biotechnology Industry Organization plans to release a report this week outlining potential "game changing" options for the biotech industry as part of a strategic planning exercise that will lead to the development of legislative proposals to focus Congress and the White House on biotech's role in innovation and national well-being.

The report, The Road to a Brighter Future for Biotech, written by former NIH Director Elias Zerhouni, is a "compendium of ideas," BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood told BioCentury. It is a point of departure for developing policy proposals, rather than a statement of BIO's positions, he said.
