John Taylor, appointed acting
FDA Principal Deputy Commissioner last week, is stepping into one of the agency's
most politically exposed positions just as its extended honeymoon with Congress
is coming to an abrupt end.

the Democratic Party have held their fire during the Obama administration,
heaping praise on Commissioner Margaret Hamburg and former Principal Deputy
Commissioner Joshua Sharfstein while avoiding aggressive oversight hearings.
