Through the looking glass
The view of stem cells provided by the public debate and the media is so different from the reality of stem cell research within the biotech sector, that industry insiders hardly could be blamed for feeling as if they have fallen down a rabbit hole into another dimension where black is white and white is black. From the industry perspective, one of the most striking contrasts is how minor a place embryonic stem cell research occupies in the research agenda and how few companies and scientists are working in the area.
While federal funding of stem cell research could lead to important breakthroughs, many other promising discoveries have turned out to be disappointments. But in their quest to overcome resistance
