How FDA will run its food hearings

WASHINGTON - Biotechnology industry groups and anti-biotech activists are scrambling to devise strategies to exploit a series of public meetings FDA will hold in November and December about its policies on bioengineered foods.

Although they disagree about the message that will be communicated, pro- and anti-biotech advocates agree that meetings, the first public dialog between FDA officials and the public about these policies since they were introduced more than five years ago, will raise the profile of food biotech issues in the media and among American consumers. ...
