AMA reviewing GM foods

WASHINGTON - The American Medical Association has launched a review of the safety of genetically modified foods.

Spokesperson Brenda Craine said the AMA's Council on Scientific Affairs in July decided to begin a six-month review of its GMO policy, which was adopted in 1990. The council will present the report to AMA management, and any changes to the AMA's position would have to be ratified by the association's house of delegates, which holds its next annual meeting in June 2000...
