OXFORD - Jurgen Ruttgers, Germany's federal minister for research, science, technology, and education, has declared that Germany is now the best place in Europe for biotechnology investors. This assertion was based on the increased activity of venture capitalists, and the accelerated rate of new biotechnology company startups in Germany.

Ruttgers said Germany's Bioregio competition had successfully resulted in centers of core competence within the country, while the federal cabinet has already implemented or has expressed its willingness to adopt 61 of 94 recommendations made by a Technology Council charged with finding ways to promote the commercialization of biotechnology.
