Small miracles

WASHINGTON - The House Commerce Committee last week accomplished what Chairman Thomas Bliley called "a miracle", reaching an agreement on medical device labeling that had eluded the Senate's FDA reform efforts.

The committee passed three bills, H.R. 1411, which reauthorizes the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) and reforms regulation of drugs and biologics; H.R. 1710, the Medical Device Regulatory Modernization Act of 1997; and H.R. 2469, the Food and Nutrition Information Reform Act of 1997...
