WASHINGTON - The
National Bioethics Advisory Commission (NBAC) has set the end of next week to
complete its draft report and recommendations to President Clinton on
government responses to breakthroughs in cloning technology, NBAC Chairman
Harold Shapiro said Friday.
Shapiro, the president
of Princeton University, pushed commission members at their meeting last week
to work quickly to meet the president's 90-day deadline for issuing the report.
He said the final version will be sent to Clinton on May 27.
