The best is often the enemy of the good, especially in politics. The key GOP and Democratic staff members who are working to get FDA reform enacted next year reminded the Biotechnology Industry Organization of that last week at BIO’s Fall Conference in Washington.

Jane Williams, the aide to Sen. Nancy Kassebaum, chair of the Senate Committee on Labor & Human Resources responsible for FDA reform issues, told BIO members they might have to support legislation that falls short of their goals — the alternative will be no legislation at all.
