2 views of AIDS drug vacuum

WASHINGTON - While the HHS last week was announcing a task force to overcome the "sad" dirth of AIDS therapies, the Biotechnology Industry Organization launched its own campaign to show that the Clinton administration's health care plan has stifled AIDS-related programs by biotech companies.

HHS Secretary Donna Shalala said the national task force on AIDS drug development would work "to identify, and remove, any barriers or obstacles to developing effective treatments."
