Looking for upside in Clinton proposal for child vaccines

Sharon Mates, president of North American Vaccine Inc. (NVX) was cautious in her reading of the Clinton administration's proposal, announced last week, for federal and state governments to buy all childhood vaccines and distribute them free to public clinics and private doctors' offices to ensure all children are vaccinated. NVX concentrates on pediatric vaccines.

If the government institutes such a plan, Mates said, the volume of vaccines required might increase dramatically, especially if the government bestows favored status on U.S. manufacturers.
