Four EU VCs raise nearly $450 million in fresh cash for private biotechs

The past two weeks have seen four European VCs raise about 0 million in either the first or final close of new funds. The flurry brings to at least .5 billion the amount of new money available in the past 12 months for European VCs to invest in life sciences. The influx also comes as private biotechs are poised for a record year of VC fundraising (see "Venture's banner year").

On Oct. 1, LSP-Life Sciences Partners announced a first close of €80 million (1.4 million) of a planned €150 million (8 million) for its new Fund 5. Two days later, Forbion Capital Partners had a first close of €92 million (6.6 million) for its FCF III fund, which is targeting €150-€200 million (8-0.7 million). ...
