BioCentury has completed its third "edition" of the BioCentury 100 Price Level Indicator, a price-weighted index for tracking price trends in the biotech market. The revised index includes the top 100 biotech companies based on market capitalization as of December 31, 1996. It is the second revision since the index was created in October 1992.

BioCentury has revised the index to account for mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, and to reflect new technologies and companies that have entered the field. The original index, which emphasized company diversity rather than market cap, drew from a much smaller pool of public companies.
