Diagnostics for infection can take days to weeks to produce
results and often serve only to rule out a given pathogen, without providing a
positive diagnosis. PathoQuest
S.A.S. is developing a sequencing-based diagnostic designed to identify
the specific viral, bacterial or fungal culprit within 24 hours.
Today's diagnostics use
culturing or PCR-based sequencing. The former tests can detect a specific
bacterial or fungal infection but take up to two weeks for results.
