EraGen: Applying evolution to revolution

The company originally was founded as Sulfonics Inc., based on technology for non-charged sulfone modifications to the DNA backbone for antisense applications. With the growing emphasis on genomics, the company shifted focus to technologies derived from the study of evolutionary relationships between gene sequences, and in 1999 reincorporated as EraGen.

EraGen now is centered on a bioinformatics platform called Master Catalog that it uses to define evolutionarily related gene families for analysis of genomic sequences, as well as a set of non-natural DNA base pairs and associated chemistry called AEGIS that can be used for assay development with identified genes or polymorphisms...
