Nine of the 54 private, clinical-stage biotechs in the
Class of 2003 have reached the market with a drug. Eight acquired the assets
through in-licensing or M&A; the exception was IDEA AG's Directin
ketoprofen, a generic delivered using the company's Transfersome gel carrier.
Overall, the group of nine has raised at least $1.8 billion since inception.
