These tools were built to help you improve your search results by helping you use
the same terms BioCentury editors use for things like diseases and targets, many
of which have alternative names or spellings. Now you can search or browse through
and select our BioCentury Disease Categories, Products and Molecular Targets and
easily add them to your archives search.
- 1Disease Category
Click

to see a pop-up box that displays all of the BioCentury Disease Categories and Indications.
You can browse or search the list to select disease categories and indications,
and have them automatically added to the
At least one of these words
search box.
Tip: This is most useful for diseases and indications that have more than one commonly
used spelling, such as chronic lymphocytic/lymphoid leukemia/leukaemia, or CLL.
- Example: To ensure you find all articles that mention the indication AML (which
is commonly spelled acute myeloid leukemia, acute myelogenous leukemia, and acute
myeloid leukaemia), browse indications under Cancer, or
enter AML in the Search Disease Categories/Indications
box and click Search. Click to place a check mark next to Acute
myelogenous leukemia (AML) and click the Add To Search Terms
button. The search term "Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML)" will appear
in the At least one of these words search box.
- 2Product Name
Click

to see a pop-up window in which you can search for a specific product name, then
have that name and any other names associated with the same product automatically
entered into the
At least one of these words search box.
Tip: This is most useful for products that have been known by a compound number,
a generic INN and/or a brand name; products whose name has been changed; and products
that have different brand names for different territories or indications.
- Example: To find all articles that refer to the branded product Arzerra, including
articles published before the product's brand name was established, enter Arzerra
into the Specify Product Name field and click Search.
Click to place a check mark next to Arzerra (Brand), ofatumumab (Generic), HuMax-CD20
(Informal), 2F2 (Other). Click Add To Search Terms. The
search terms "2F2" "Arzerra" "HuMax-CD20" and "ofatumumab" will appear in the
At least one of these words search box.
- 3Molecular Target
Click

to see a pop-up box that displays all of the BioCentury molecular targets alphabetically.
You can browse or search the list to select molecular targets and their aliases,
and have all the names and aliases for the target automatically added to the
At least one of these words search box.
Tip: This is most useful for targets that are known by more than one name or abbreviation.
- Example: To find all articles that refer to the target Acetyl-Coenzyme A carboxylase
alpha, select the target from the alphabetical list, or enter the target name into
the search box and click Search. Click to place a check mark next
to Acetyl-Coenzyme A carboxylase alpha (ACACA) (ACC1). Click Add to
Search to have the search terms "Acetyl-Coenzyme A carboxylase alpha"
" ACACA" and "ACC1" automatically added to the At least one of these words
search box.
